Indigenous to New Zealand and Norfolk Island. Grows in a wide range of locations from lowland and coastal areas to mountain forest, will grow happily in very dry spots also. Seed needs stratification either by sowing in autumn in areas that get frosts, or 6 weeks in the fridge in frost free areas. 

Flax will cross pollinate with other cultivars, Richard has only one cultivar so this seed will grow true to type.
