Details  Libertia, New Zealand Native Iris is a small green/yellow native plant with iris like white flowers in Spring followed by orange/yellow fruit, will grow as tall as 50cm. Handles frost but doesn't like being too dry.

Propagation: Seed scarification is recommended, place seeds in a cup of warm water, leave to cool for 24hrs then sow seeds directly on to a firm bed of seed raising mix and press well in. Cover with a light layer of mix.

Tobacco - 98RW

Details  This old strain of tobacco is suppose to be a Virginian strain, it had been grown by an man long passed away who lived near Kaiapoi. The pink flowered variety grows to close to 2m and flowers form Dec till late autumn which attracts the bumble bees. The second year after the plants have died they become quite useful for growing peas as the stems remain sturdy in the ground. Tobacco is very good as a carbon crop given its extensive root systems
