Our goal was to develop strong and resilient varieties suited to New Zealand conditions .
They are registered OPEN SOURCE through the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI).
By purchasing these seed varieties in this collection, you are taking part in the "FREE THE SEED" movement!
You have the freedom to use these OSSI-Pledged seeds in any way you choose. In return, you pledge not to restrict
others’ use of these seeds or their derivatives by patents or other means, and to include this pledge with any transfer of these seeds or their derivatives.

We're always looking for locally adapted landrace lines, young grex crosses, or heirloom plant seeds to include in our catalogue not currently grown by other Sentinel growers.
Red Matipo - 184SS
Details Red matipo is a species native to the North, South and Stewart Island which grows into a small shrub or tree to a height of 3–6 metres tall. Ideal as a revegetation species or in a understory position.
Propagation: Collect the fruit when it is ripe (black) and sow directly on to a firm bed of seed raising mix and press well in. Cover with a light layer of mix. Seedlings usually appear in two to three months depending on temperature.

Porokaiwhiri Pigeonwood - 186SS
Details An attractive small tree with a dark brown or grey and smooth bark, growing between 5 to 12 metres tall. Pigeonwood prefers a sheltered site with plenty of moisture and good soil in semi-shade.
Sow directly on a firm bed of seed raising mix, press well in and cover with mix. Seedlings will come up in the autumn.
